Antibacterial Activity of Ethanol Extract of Cemba (Acasia rugata (Lam) Fawc. Rendle) Against Candida albicans
Abstract
Cemba plant is one of the endemic plants in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi. This plant has chemical contents including essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids and alkaloids. The purpose of this study was to explore the activity of cemba leaves as an antifungal. The method in this study used the leaves through the maceration stage with 70% ethanol solvent. The extraction results were tested for activity with the agar diffusion method on Candida albicans. The results showed the inhibition activity of cemba leaf ethanol extract against Candida albicans at a concentration of 3% (9.37 mm), 5% (10.8 mm) and 7% (13.25 mm).
