Formulation for Making Acne Cream Ethanol Extract of Manila Sawo Leaf (Manilkara zapota L.) In Batara Village, Pangkajene Regency

Abstract

Sapodilla manila (Manilkara zapota L.) contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids and glycosides (Ismail et al, 2013) which have potential as anti-acne. This study aims to form a cream formula from ethanol extract of sawo manila leaf (Manilkara zapota L.) and evaluate the physical quality characteristics of the cream. The cream formulation of sawo manila leaf extract (Manilkara zapota L.) was prepared by concentrating the extract FI (0.25 g) FII (0.5 g) FIII (1 g), cetyl alcohol and triethanolamine as an emulgator. The concentration of cetyl alcohol and triethanolamine used are FI (0.2%: 0.2%), FII (0.2%: 0.2%), FIII (0.2%: 0.2%). The resulting cream was evaluated for its physical quality characteristics, namely organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, pH, type of cream. From the evaluation of physical quality characteristics, it can be concluded that Formula I is the best formula that meets the requirements for good quality cream. Ethanol extract cream of sapodilla manila (Manilkara zapota L.) is a cream with type M / A produces organoleptic semi-solid dosage forms, brick red color, and typical leaves of sapodilla manila (Manilkara zapota L.). In the homogeneity test there is no clumping in the cream preparation so the preparations are homogeneous. In the power spread test on the FI which is 8.5 cm, the spread power meets the requirements for good spreadability of the cream. The resulting pH value is 6, so the cream is a safe category for the face.
